Aluminum Trivalent Chromium Passivation Solution

As a leading supplier of electroplating-related products, Alfa Chemistry specializes in providing advanced surface treatment solutions for various substrates. Our aluminum trivalent chromium passivation solution (product code: ACEP-PRE-027) is a new-generation, universal passivation agent tailored for aluminum materials. It employs an innovative formulation based on organic acids, supplemented with premium corrosion inhibitors and polymeric passivation accelerators. Unlike conventional chromate-based solutions, it is free of toxic hexavalent chromium, non-corrosive to the substrate, and compliant with environmental regulations.

Key Advantages

  • Superior Corrosion Protection: It provides 200+ hours of neutral salt spray resistance, significantly extending the service life of treated aluminum parts.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Formulated with non-toxic, trivalent chromium (Cr³⁺) instead of hazardous hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺).
  • Universal Application: Suitable for various aluminum-based materials, including castings, extrusions, and precision machined parts.
  • Process Efficiency: Fast reaction time (1-6 minutes) with minimal energy consumption (operating temperature: 30-40°C).
  • No Dimensional Change: Non-etching formula ensures workpieces retain their original size and finish.
  • Easy Operation: Simple immersion process with no specialized equipment required (compatible with standard plastic tanks).

Recommended Usage

  • Bath Preparation: Mix 40% ACEP-PRE-027 with 60% deionized water. Adjust pH to 3.7-3.95 using 5% sulfuric acid or 1% sodium hydroxide if necessary.
  • Pre-treatment: Degrease components to remove oils and residues.
  • Passivation:
    • 35-40°C: 1-3 minutes
    • 30-34°C: 2-6 minutes
  • Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse with pure water post-treatment.
  • Drying: Air-dry or oven-dry below 65°C. For best results prior to salt spray testing or coating, allow the component to stand for 24 hours.

Bath Maintenance

The pH of the working solution may change during use due to oxidant consumption and contamination. Maintain pH around 3.7. If pH exceeds 3.95, supplement with pre-diluted ACEP-PRE-027 to restore optimal conditions.

Wastewater Treatment

  • Neutralize wastewater to pH 7-8 using lime, sodium carbonate, or sodium hydroxide before discharge
  • Approximate neutralization dosage: 2.5 g NaOH/L of original solution
